    Good morning,

ASBOUSA posted a new blog on ESEA/NCLB reauthorization this morning, which examines policy insider opinions on Capitol Hill and elsewhere regarding whether NCLB reauthorization is possible this year.

Also, check out Friday's legislative update, which features ASBO International's efforts to encourage Congress to reauthorize ESEA/NCLB; updates regarding the FY2016 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (L-HHS-ED) Appropriations bills in the House and Senate; results of the House Education and Workforce hearing on school nutrition compliance and its cost on schools; and Affordable Care Act updates.

Finally, see this legislative alert regarding the House and Senate's FY2016 education appropriations (spending) bills. There you'll find resources that provide a quick snapshot of what's in store for education program funding for FY2016.

...and here are some reminders for the alerts we sent out last week:

    1. Advocacy opportunity (for individuals only; time sensitive): we need your input on the following discussion threads, posted by ASBO International Executive Director John Musso, in the Legislative Affairs Community:

    a) Where you stand on maintenance of effort (MOE) legislation as it pertains to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

    b) Where you stand on critical K–12 legislative and policy issues like ESEA/NCLB reauthorization, the Senate's Every Child Achieves Act, and other issues affecting your district.

    2. Advocacy opportunity (for organizations only): ASBO International is supporting a new ESEA amendment from Senator Brian Schatz' Office (D-HI) regarding school facility maintenance and data-tracking. Please read about the legislation here and feel free to contact Sen. Schatz to support it if you're interested.

    3. Advocacy opportunity (for organizations only): ASBO International is supporting two summer meal bills. Please read this thread for more information and sign on in support by July 15

    Thank you.
