The Department of Education (ED)
released data with state funding estimates for ESSA programs, including Title I & Title II federal grants.
Education Week provides a full analysis of that data here, and attached are documents that provide estimated figures by state for each program.
The data show state funding levels for Title I and Title II grants for:
- The 2017 federal fiscal year (final figures, which affect school district dollars for the 2017-2018 school year),
- The 2018 federal fiscal year (based on the FY18 omnibus, which are estimates; final figures will be released in July) and,
- The change in percentage of funding between these federal fiscal years.
- Based on the changes in percentages, Edweek highlighted which states would likely receive the biggest funding increases and decreases:
- 5 States With Largest Title I Increases: OK, CA, DC, NM, and LA
- 5 States With Largest Title I Decreases: MI, UT, HI, NH, and KS
- 5 States With Largest Title II Increases: NV, AZ, NC, GA, and TX
- 5 States With Largest Title II Decreases: CT, MA, MI, NY, WV
