Shesh Maharaj was born, raised and currently resides in Guelph, Ontario. Shesh works with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board as their Executive Superintendent of Corporate Services, CFO, and Treasurer of the Board. Having been with the board since 1999 and holding prior roles of Internal Audit Officer, Accounting Supervisor, and Senior Manager - Financial Services, Shesh now supervises the Financial Services, Capital Planning, Facility Services, Information Technology, Internal Audit, and Purchasing Departments, and oversees the business functions of the school board’s Continuing Education schools. Also included in his portfolio is risk management, insurance and Student Transportation.
Shesh is a strong believer in harnessing the strengths and talents of the people that have devoted their lives to public service. His key foci include continuous improvement through the use of process and technology efficiencies, workplace morale and work-life balance, accountability, ethical behavior, professional development and promotion of resource equity within public education. Shesh also believes in continuous personal improvement. He holds a diploma in Accounting from Mohawk College, an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from Laurentian University and is a member of the Certified General Accountants of Ontario. Shesh also holds Supervisory Officer Qualifications, granted by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
An active member of the Ontario Association of School Business Officials since 2001, Shesh has been Chair of their Finance Committee, an executive member of the Council of Senior Business Officials of Ontario (COSBO), and is a past president of the organization. Shesh is also a member of the Ontario Catholic School Business Officials Association and has served on many Ministry working groups.
