Dan Huenneke, SFO
Finance & Administration Manager
Having arrived in Virginia from Colorado in January 2020, I bring my experience as an SFO to the business office of ASBO International and share in the vision and exciting plans for ASBO’s future. My background in school finance and business operations over the last 30 years and my interest in promoting excellence in the school business profession attracted me to ASBO as a destination.
My leadership role as Budget Director at Cherry Creek School District and Director of Business Services at Summit County School District fits in well with the mission of ASBO. My recent role as a Board member at Colorado ASBO and being a presenter at state conferences also was an inspiration to be involved with the mission of ASBO.
I believe we have an opportunity at ASBO to connect and contribute to the success of school districts and support the honorable efforts of leaders of schools in the education community as they help inspire the learning and achievements of their students.
My wife Joan is a hydrologist and was recently promoted to National Watershed Program Leader at the D.C. office of the U.S. Forest Service. She is a subject matter expert for publications on best practices in water quality management which contributes to long-range planning in the various regions of the U.S.
Our family includes our daughter, Kendra, (and her husband Matt) in Philadelphia, whose career has focused on hospitality/event management; and our son Doug, (and his wife Margie) in San Diego, who specializes in helicopter operations on aircraft carriers. Our family is blessed with the recent birth of a grandson in Philadelphia and a granddaughter in San Diego.
My hobbies include golf, bowling, and tennis. Our youngest son, Derek, attends school in Fairfax County, and enjoys his role on the school’s baseball, basketball, and soccer teams.
