Frankie has served K-12 public education for 25 years as a Chief Technology Officer. After graduating college with a B.S. in Computer Information Systems, she spent the first 10 years of her career in software engineering at NASA supporting the Space Shuttle and Station contracts. Within 2 years she was placed on a fast track and moved into multiple leadership positions including serving as a Baldrige quality examiner. In 1993, she decided to transition to K-12 because of her love of children, education, performance excellence and technology leadership.
Serving as a K-12 CTO, she is committed to professional development. She obtained a M.S. degree in Instructional Technology and served on the Texas Association for School Business Officials (TASBO) board from 2007 – 2013 and as TASBO’s president in 2012. She earned TASBO’s Commitment to Excellence award in 2015 and was a nominee for the Association for School Business Officials (ASBO) Eagle award in 2015. She currently leads TASBO’s Information Technology content for professional development. She also serves as the chair of the Leadership Advisory committee for the Texas K-12 CTO Council.
Working at the national level she has been an advisor for the Consortium of School Networking’s (www.cosn.org) SMART Education Design Network (SMART) initiative since 2014. She also serves on CoSN’s policy committee. In 2018 she earned the CoSN Volunteer of the Year. She is most proud to serve as a trainer for the CoSN’s Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL) program where she is helping aspiring CTOs be all they can be. Lastly, she is thrilled to be serving as ASBO’s newly appointed Information Technology content leader!
Frankie’s love of technology leadership in education inspires her to give every ounce of energy she has to school business. She has been married to Scott since 1983 and together they have 3 daughters. Frankie enjoys running, reading and writing. She is a published author of two mother-daughter relationship self-help books. She’s currently working on a new book with a current title called Emergent Technology Leadership which she is hoping to release in late 2019.
