Following a career in the public, private and charitable sectors, I was appointed as the Business Manager at Meadowfield Special School in 2009 and promoted to Strategic Business Leader in 2016. I have a Master’s in Business Administration, National General Certificate in Safety & Health (NEBOSH), Certificate in Accounting, and the Certificate and Diploma in School Business Management. I’m currently studying for a Master’s degree in Leadership with Henley Business School.
In 2016 I was appointed as a Specialist Leader of Education in School Business Management and Financial Management with the Collaborative Learning Alliance of Special Schools. I’m a Fellow of the National Association of School Business Management (“NASBM”) and the Special School Lead. I’m part of NASBM’s international research special interest group and met with members of the group from America, Australia and South Africa at the ASBO conference in Arizona in 2016. I’m Chair of the NASBM Special Schools Forum and the Kent Association of Special Schools School Business Managers Group. In 2016 I received an award from NASBM’s Chief Executive, Stephen Morales, for “Exceptional contribution to the development of the SBM profession” for raising the profile of special schools and my commitment to international research.
I’m passionate about facilitating learning and collaborative working on a school, county, national and international level, and am particularly interested in research that will further the development of school business leadership.
