The Committee for Education Funding (CEF), an education funding advocacy coalition that ASBO International is a member of, hosted a Legislative Conference on Wednesday, September 25. Attached are two PowerPoint presentations that were shared at the conference.1) State School Funding After the Great Recession - Presented by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. Shares information on how education funding was impacted by the recession, which states are still struggling to recover to pre-recession funding levels, and implications of funding cuts for student learning, teacher pay, and capital spending.2) History of Education Funding - Presented by the Bipartisan Policy Center. Shares information about federal/state/local education funding over the last 50 years, the percentage of federal spending on education relevant to overall federal spending, how federal health/pension programs are squeezing funding for other programs, and more.These presentations provide a lot of visual data to help school business officials understand the overall federal/state/local education funding picture. The data can be useful to support education funding advocacy efforts at state and federal levels by showing elected officials how funding has been cut over the years.
