Leadership Workshop – Using DiSC to Understand and Improve Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

Time: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Description: For those familiar with the DiSC leadership personality assessment, you understand how DiSC can be used to develop better communication between individuals or a team. DiSC can also be used to develop and improve your emotional intelligence (EQ). Because DiSC gives us insight into our psychological needs, it helps us to understand how and WHY someone reacts and behaves in different situations. Join us at this workshop to learn more about how DiSC and EQ are related and how to use this in your daily team interactions.

Prerequisite: Attendees must have a basic understanding of DiSC and know their DiSC profile before participating. DiSC assessment will not be provided during the workshop.

Learning objectives: At the end of this activity, learners should be able to:

  • Describe the connection between leadership personality styles and emotional intelligence.

Introduction to Grant Funding for the SBO

Time: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Description: One commonality among most districts is the shortage of funding for critical programs and services. Many districts are unaware of how grant funding can help fill these gaps. In this four-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to locate grant funds, identify potential funding options, determine eligibility, common pitfalls, best practices for writing a grant application, and more. The facilitator will also provide insight into tracking funds after they’ve been awarded, how to ensure your district is in compliance, and how you can stay ahead of deadlines that lead up to the final stages of the grant, including how to prepare for the Single Act audit.

Learning objectives: At the end of this activity, learners should be able to:

  • Recognize how grant funding can fill gaps between budget shortfalls and critical programs and services.
  • Identify several grant funding possibilities specific to their district and needs.
  • Describe common pitfalls involved with writing and securing grant funding.
  • Discuss the steps for preparing for the Single Act audit.
