Check out this
press release from the U.S. Department of Education that came out today. With the requirements under NCLB ramping up as we approach the "everyone must be proficient" deadline in 2013, we are going to see more and more schools labeled as "failing" because they fail to meet the achievement gains required under NCLB.
The thought here in Washington is that Congress won't be able to get its act together this year to reauthorize NCLB, and if they don't , forget about it in the election year 2012. In the meantime, look for bits and pieces of reform to come through the Senate--probably in line with the
administration's blueprint for education.
