This evening the U.S. Senate passed an omnibus spending bill already approved by the House, so it is on to the president for a signature.
According to the Committee for Education Funding (of which ASBO is a member): "The bill is a mixed bag. It does not fully restore the sequester cuts for the Department of Education... the discretionary total for ED is an increase of $1.597 billion above FY 13 final, but that is $811 million below the FY 12 pre-sequester level. Some programs are frozen at their post-sequester level, while others are partly restored. The Administration's pre-school development grants were funded via Race to the Top. That $250 million is essentially the same as the preschool grants the Administration wanted. In addition $500 million is provided for Early Head Start-Child care partnerships."
Take a look at the chart of programs that CEF created to see how any of the programs you may rely on fared this time. The chart not only shows the funding level in the bill, but also the funding levels in FY12 and 13, so you can track the changes and predict what that might mean for your district.
