The U.S. Department of Education is scheduled to announce the details of its new district-level Race to the Top competition today.
The district competition is the latest iteration of Race to the Top, begun under the economic-stimulus program in 2009. The department anticipates giving out between 15 and 20 four-year grants of up to $25 million each. Districts will be able to apply for the funds individually or as part of consortia with other districts, even districts in other states.
I'll be tweeting live from the department's announcement today at 12:00 p.m. ET. Follow me @EdPolicyGirl or tune in to ED's USTREAM channel to stream the announcement in real time: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/education-department.
