In light of the hardship that school districts are facing with trying to provide for and educate students during the COVID-19 crisis, ASBO International and AASA, The School Superintendents Association are sharing an advocacy opportunity with members to join us in asking Congress to provide practical, narrow flexibility for meeting several requirements under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

If your districts are struggling to meet IDEA mandates during the COVID-19 crisis, we urge you to email your Congressional representatives and their education staff about including sensible IDEA flexibilities in the next COVID-19 relief package. Please find a template letter (attached) to edit and send to your elected officials today.

You can download a list here of all Congressional education staffers broken out by state here to email them individually. Please note that your advocacy message will be more effective if you personalize the letter by adding a paragraph about your district's and state's specific concerns or issues on this topic. We urge you to contact your representatives as soon as possible, and please contact us if you have any questions.
