The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) has asked ASBO International for information on school business professionals' experiences with federal programs that provide funding for low-emission and zero-emission school buses. This may include the EPA's Clean School Bus Program, DOE's Renew America's School Grants, the Inflation Reduction Act's tax incentives, or other federal programs supporting cleaner school transportation. 

Please share your feedback with ASBO on any of the following questions by Friday, May 3. Your input will help inform GAO's report to federal lawmakers about how to improve clean school bus programs. 

·        What are your experiences (positive or negative) with using federal funding for low-emission or zero-emission school buses?

·        In your view, what impact (if any), have federal school bus programs had on reducing diesel emissions from school transportation? What other impacts have these programs had on school transportation?

·        Have you observed any regional variations in either the utilization or the effectiveness of these programs?

·        What challenges have you encountered in accessing or utilizing federal funding to reduce diesel emissions from your district's school bus fleet?

·        Are there specific opportunities or improvements you believe could enhance the effectiveness of these programs for school transportation nationwide?

·        Do you know of any specific contacts at organizations/companies that can help provide bus manufacturers' perspectives on how to improve these programs?

·        Are there specific challenges or opportunities related to technical aspects that you believe should be addressed to improve the performance of these programs?
