When schools close for the summer, nearly 30 million children that rely daily on USDA's school breakfast and lunch programs lose access to these nutritious meals. Thanks to bipartisan action by Congress, States have two powerful new tools to fight summer hunger. Starting in summer 2023, certain rural communities can provide summer meals to children through a "grab and go" or home delivery model; and launching in summer 2024, States can participate in the permanent nationwide Summer EBT program, which will provide grocery benefits for households with eligible children during the summer.

Please join the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) and education partners, AASA, the School Superintendents Association, Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO), National Association of Elementary School Principals, National Education Association (NEA), and National Rural Education Association (NREA), for a webinar to hear updates on these new options and learn how the education community can support successful implementation to better meet the nutritional needs of children during the summer months so they are ready to learn when school starts in the fall. Attendees will also learn about the latest news regarding USDA's proposals to update school meal standards and the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).
