ASBO NETWORK RULES
Thank you for being part of our community. To ensure the best possible experience for all members, ASBO International has established some basic rules for participation. By joining and using this community, you agree that you have read and will follow these rules and guidelines. You also agree to reserve discussions, shared files, and content to those best suited to the medium.
The ASBO Network provides members with a forum to seek advice from peers, benefit from shared experience, and participate in ongoing discussions. If you have any questions on what content is appropriate for the ASBO Network, please contact Member Services.
Member-only community. This community is intended for ASBO members and authorized participants. Please do not share, forward, repost, or screenshot discussion threads or files outside of the community unless you have the author’s permission, and doing so does not violate any confidentiality obligations.

To preserve a climate that encourages both civil and fruitful dialogue, ASBO International reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to suspend or terminate participation in this community for anyone who violates these rules.
THE RULES
To maintain a professional, respectful, and valuable community experience, all participants are expected to follow these guidelines:
- Be respectful and professional. Civil, constructive dialogue is encouraged. Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or discriminatory language or behavior will not be tolerated.
- Keep it non‑commercial. The community is not a place for advertising, solicitation, promotions, or lead generation. Product or service references should be relevant, educational, and non‑promotional.
- Respect privacy and confidentiality. Do not share private contact information, confidential district information, or student personally identifiable information (PII).
- Respect intellectual property. Share only content you have the right to post. Clearly indicate if content is not intended for reuse.
- Post thoughtfully. Use appropriate discussion areas, avoid duplicate posts, and ensure messages contribute to the professional knowledge of the community.
- Use sound judgment and integrity. Do not impersonate others, misrepresent affiliations, or intentionally post misleading information.
ASBO International reserves the right to remove content or restrict participation for violations of these rules or actions that are not in the best interest of the association.
ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES FOR CORPORATE MEMBERS
- Corporate members are welcome to participate in the ASBO Network for the purpose of sharing expertise, responding to member questions, and contributing to professional dialogue.
- Corporate members may not use the community to promote products or services, solicit business, generate leads, or distribute marketing materials. This includes posting links, files, or messages primarily intended to market a company or offering.
- If a member asks a specific question about a product or service, corporate members may respond only when directly requested and should keep responses factual and non-promotional. Follow-up conversations should take place privately and at the member’s discretion.
- ASBO International reserves the right to remove content or restrict participation that does not align with these guidelines or the best interest of the association.
DISCUSSION GROUP ETIQUETTE
To keep discussions useful, searchable, and respectful for all members:
- Be clear and concise. Use descriptive subject lines and stay on topic so others can easily find and follow conversations.
- Post with intention. Share messages with the full group only when the content benefits the broader community; otherwise, reply directly to individuals.
- Be courteous with replies. Include only relevant portions of prior messages when responding.
- Use appropriate channels. Avoid posting administrative requests (e.g., “remove me from the list”) in discussion threads. Account and subscription changes should be managed through your profile settings.
- Maintain professionalism. Keep discussions constructive and avoid escalating disagreements publicly.
If you believe a post violates the Code of Conduct or these guidelines, please contact Member Services rather than addressing the issue directly in the discussion.
LIBRARY RULES
- ASBO International retains the right and ability to move documents within and between libraries.
- Do not upload content that contains confidential, proprietary, or restricted materials unless you have the right to share it with this audience.
LEGAL TERMS
This site is provided as a service for the members of the Association of School Business Officials International. ASBO International is not responsible for the opinions and information posted on this site by others. The association disclaims all warranties with regard to information posted on this site, whether posted by ASBO International or any third party; this disclaimer includes all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness. In no event shall ASBO International be liable for any special, indirect, or consequential damages or any damages whatsoever resulting from loss of use, data, or profits, arising out of or in connection with the use or performance of any information posted on this site.
ASBO International reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the site with or without notice at any time and without any liability to users.
Do not post any defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials.
Do not post any information or other material protected by copyright without the permission of the copyright owner. By posting material, you warrant and represent that you own the copyright with respect to such material or have received permission from the copyright owner. You are responsible for determining that such material is not protected by copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights. You shall be solely liable for any damage resulting from any infringement of copyright, trademark, or other proprietary rights, or any other harm resulting from any uploading, posting, or submission.
Responsibility for content. Members remain responsible for ensuring that any content they post—including content created or assisted by artificial intelligence tools—complies with these Terms and does not violate intellectual property rights, confidentiality obligations, or professional standards.
In addition, you grant ASBO International and users of this site the nonexclusive right and license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print, and use such information or other material.
Content license clarification. You retain ownership of your content. By submitting content, you grant ASBO International a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, display, and distribute your content within the community as necessary to operate, moderate, archive, and improve the platform.
Messages should not be posted if they encourage or facilitate members to arrive at any agreement that either expressly or impliedly leads to price fixing, a boycott of another's business, or other conduct intended to illegally restrict free trade. Messages that encourage or facilitate an agreement about the following subjects are inappropriate: prices, discounts, or terms or conditions of sale; salaries; profits, profit margins, or cost data; market shares, sales territories, or markets; allocation of customers or territories; or selection, rejection, or termination of customers or suppliers.
ASBO International does not actively monitor the site for inappropriate postings and does not undertake editorial control of postings. However, in the event that any inappropriate posting is brought to the attention of ASBO International, the association will take all appropriate action.
Enforcement actions may include content removal, warning, temporary suspension, or permanent revocation of community access. ASBO International may take action without prior notice when appropriate to protect members and the community.
ASBO International has set user profile preferences to prevent others from accessing your user contact information. These preferences can be revised and changed by individual users at their own risk of releasing contact information to all members.
ASBO International will be collecting and storing data from this site pertaining to log-on usage, discussion groups, document postings, and e-group conversations.
Privacy. Use of the community is also subject to ASBO International’s Privacy Policy and any platform-specific notices.
You agree that you are responsible for all statements made, and acts or omissions that occur on your account while your password is being used. If you believe someone has used your password or account without your authorization, you must notify ASBO International immediately.
ASBO International reserves the right to access and disclose any information, including, without limitation, usernames of accounts and other information, to comply with applicable laws and lawful government requests.
ASBO International may change these rules at any time. You can review the most current version of these rules by clicking on the "Terms and Conditions" link in the footer of the web page. You are responsible for checking these rules periodically for changes. If you continue to use the site after ASBO International posts changes to these rules, you are signifying your acceptance of the new terms.
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ASBO International and its affiliates and other subsidiaries, and its respective employees, contractors, officers, directors, and agents from all liabilities, claims, and expenses, including attorney's fees that arise from your use or misuse of the site or from any breach of these rules. ASBO International reserves the right, at its own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which event you will cooperate with the association in asserting any available defenses. ASBO International reserves the right to terminate access to any user who does not abide by these rules.
