I have been asked to respond to several K–12 legislative and policy issues and would like to see where ASBO International members stand. Your responses would also help us identify what your key issues are as they may come up on Capitol Hill.

I would like to ask that you take a few minutes to briefly respond to the following questions.

    1. There are many issues regarding K–12 federal policy and advocacy. What are are your district’s top two biggest legislative and advocacy priorities in education right now at the federal level?
    1. An ESEA re authorization bill (the Every Child Achieves Act) has been passed by the Senate. In your opinion, what is the biggest strength and biggest shortfall in the bill?
    1. At the federal level, the narrative around education seems disconnected from a strong focus on expanding the economy. How can we reconnect the dots, so to speak, to have congress understand the critical and direct connection between investing in/supporting education and strengthening the economy?
    1. What major education priority would you want ASBO International to help you with at the federal level?
    1. How can ASBO International help redirect and strengthen the narrative about our nation’s public schools?

    Thanks so Much

    John
