My name is Christopher J. Smith. I go by Chris for short. I have been in the school business for over 20 years.
I began my School Business career in 1998 as the Assistant for Business & Technology in Bay City ISD. In Bay City I was responsible for all monetary issues such as Budget, Payroll, an Accounts Payable. However, I was also responsible for Technology, Purchasing, Risk Management and Transportation. I served in Bay City until October 2003. I left Bay City for the challenges of a growing district.
In October 2003, I accepted a job as the Business Manager for Katy ISD. At that time we had just celebrated the enrollment of our 40,000 student. As Business Manager, I was responsible for the Accounting, Budget, Treasury, Accounts Payable, and Payroll Functions of the District.
In December 2013 I was promoted to the position of Chief Financial Officer for Katy ISD.
As of today, some fifteen years later, Katy ISD's enrollment exceeds 80,000 and continues to be challenged with fast growth.
I have been married to Mindy for 28 years and we have two children, Hayden James (22) and Tinsley Claire (14).
